2011-2012 Projects We Funded
The Education Foundation distributed $25,500 of its fundraising proceeds between 13 school and Division projects in the 2011-2012 school year. Another $5,000 went towards its endowment fund held by Red Deer and District Community Foundation.
Seventeen requests for funding were received for a total amount of $73,188. The following is a short description of the 13 projects that received funding.
École Camille J. Lerouge School
Religious Leaders Retreat – $2000
Funds will assist Grade 6 students attend the school’s Religious Leader Retreat.
Holy Family School
Memorial Rosary Garden – $1500
Funds will be used to build and maintain the schools Rosary garden.
Maryview School
Mosaic of Faith – $2500
Funds will assist in building a faith mosaic using hand created tiles.
Our Lady of the Rosary School
Environmental Stewardship – $2000
The school will purchase a recycle and a compost station to encourage responsible environmentalism.
St. Elizabeth Seton School
Seton Ambassadors – $763
This program encourages students to take on a leadership role in their school.

Rosary Garden Boxes – $3000
This project involves designing and rosary garden and planting garden boxes with vegetables.
St. Francis of Assisi Middle School
Religious Mural – $2000
This project involved the creation of a large ceramic mosaic mural for the school chapel. Approximately 500 tiles were created by students and staff.
École St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School
iPod 3-D Initiative Project – $3000
This project involved the purchase of iPods and related equipment to facilitate the research and dissemination of classroom ideas, along with the timely feedback during lessons and the creation of digital content to share projects within the school and the division.
St. Patrick Community School
Where Voices are Heard – $3000
This was a faith project that assisted in the development of faith filled student leaders with three half day facilitated workshops.
St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School
School Chapel- $500
This project involved the construction of a chapel space in the schools gathering area.
Division Kindergarten Program
Yellow Bear Goes to Catholic School – $1500
This division wide initiative ensured that all children attending Kindergarten received the book “Yellow Bear Goes to Catholic School”.
Division Grade 5 Girl Students
Go Girl 2012 – $750.00
A division wide initiative for all Grade 5 girls to attend “Go Girl” that allowed them to experience a variety of physical activities.
Division Grade 5 Students
Beginner Band Day – $3,100.00
This was a division wide initiative where all Grade 5 students spent a day in a Band workshop.
